How do you find your One Rep Max in a given exercise ?

What is One Rep Max ?

​

The maximum resistance with which a person can execute one repetition of a given exercise.

How do you calculate it ?

​

Load the bar with a weight you think would enable you to execute up to 10 repetitions or less. The table below will demonstrate representative percentages of one rep max to a given number of reps completed. Let's assume you accomplished a bench press of 175 lb for 7 repetitions. This would relate to an approximated percentage of 82.5% of your One Rep Max. Now divide 175 lb by 82.5% (175/0.825), this will yield an amount of 212 lb which can be used as a reliable estimate of your One Rep Max.
